Application
Substrate preparation :
The substrate must be resistant, non-friable, stable and cohesive.
Surface must be dry.
Remove old paint, plaster and putty by scraping and, if necessary, sanding. Remove all traces of silicone sealant. All irregularities must be removed.
for application in a shower, special preparation is required to reinforce waterproofing and wall/floor junctions. (please consult us).
Material preparation :
TIP: As the opening time of the product averages 1h30, we strongly advise you to mix and prepare the mixture by 5kg maximum, otherwise your mixture will harden before you have finished your application.
Pour all the pigment into the powder to obtain the chosen shade, then mix dry under mechanical agitation until the powder is completely colored. For a uniform color, it is preferable to sift the pigment. Prepare 3 liters of water for 10 kg of powder, i.e. 300 ml (300 g) of water for 1 kg of powder.
Preparing the mixture: pour the colored powder into the water by hand or mechanical stirring at slow speed until a homogeneous paste is obtained. Always pour the powder into the water, not the other way round (risk of lumps). The final mixture should be thick.
Proceed in the same way for your 2nd coat and then also for any 3rd coat.
Application:
On prepared substrates, apply an even, 1 mm-thick first coat using a stainless steel trowel.
After the 1st coat has dried completely, about 5 hours later but with no time limit, cover with a 2nd even coat that can be applied as it dries, depending on the desired effect.
It is sometimes necessary to apply further coats to obtain a smoother film, especially if the spectrum of joints is still visible, or if they are very hollow.
After 12 hours drying time, polish with n°120 sandpaper, either manually or using an orbital sander. Then apply the pore filler. Allow to dry for at least 12 hours. Then cover with our Highprotect varnish.
When applying to dissimilar substrates (e.g. two edge-to-edge worktops or two panels of medium wood, fibrocement etc.), it is essential to join the substrates together using a strip of tarlatan calico embedded in our universal primer before applying the decorative coating.
If applying to solid wood, we recommend insulating the wood against rising tannins before applying the coating with 2 coats of our High Protect varnish to avoid unsightly colored stains through the coating.
Finishing:
To protect the plaster :
Application of one coat of Pore Filler (12 h drying time)
Application of 2 coats of Highprotect professional polyurethane varnish (12 h drying time between coats).
The type of finish used will depend on the location of the surface being treated and the constraints inherent in its use. It will also depend on the desired finish (matt or satin).
Drying / Tools / Cleaning :
Drying between 2 coats: approx. 5 hours
Drying before polishing and finishing: 12 hours or more
Open time > 1 hour
American knife in various sizes (useful for corners, credenzas, stairs, small surfaces not accessible with the smoothing tool)
Plastic and stainless steel smoothers 20×8 and 24×10 with rounded edges. Important: the size and type of smoother must be adapted to the surface. If the smoother has already been used, rub its edges with sandpaper to remove roughness and avoid marking the surface.
Microfiber rollers (10mm – 250mm): for finishing applications.
Clean with water during and after use
Entretien
Care
Allow to dry for 7 days before using detergent for routine maintenance.
Consumption
2kg/m² for 2 coats
1st coat: 1.2 kg mortar powder/m².
2nd coat: 0.8 kg powder mortar / m².
Total yield powder + water must not be less than 2.5 kg powder mortar / m².
If your joints are very hollow (greater than 3mm), we recommend either applying a 3rd coat at a rate of 1kg/m² to completely eliminate the visual spectrum, or applying a 1st coat of our RAGREPLUS levelling compound.
4 kg powder + 1.2 kg water = 5.2 kg reconstituted paste covers up to 2.6 m² for 2 coats.
10 kg powder + 3 kg water = 13 kg reconstituted paste covers up to 6.5 m² for 2 coats.
20 kg powder + 6 kg water = 26 kg reconstituted paste covers up to 13 m² for 2 coats.
